Domaša

Domaša during corona virus

Domaša during corona virus

It´s hard to say anything bad about Domaša, because no matter how many flaws we would be able to find we always return to it. For us from the east of Slovakia it is close and the access to water is quite good. Usually we meet mostly fishermen and windsurfers, but in the last couple of years we noticed a new trend. And that is, as it turned out, getting out of the car, staring at a water for five minutes, making sure that dog has pooped, getting back into the car and leaving. Here and there someone makes a selfie to brag about being on a trip and posts it on Facebook. Well, there is no accounting for a taste.

Illegal buildings and caravans, that were there for years (slowly becoming historical landmarks), were torn down and only heaps of trash and garbage was left behind.

Hotel and restaurant are temporarily closed because of the coronavirus, but there are a few buildings under construction, so we will see, what the future holds for us. We only hope, that it won´t gen any harder to get to the water. Our concern comes mainly from the fact, that we noticed a growing tendency to privatize the surroundings of water reservoirs. For example, all around Zemplínska Šírava you can see signs spelling Private property and there are barriers everywhere. Pictures that you see here are from summer 2020.

No, proti gustu žiaden dišputát.

Water level and its state

Water level and its state

Domaša has gone through many stages. From dried up desert oasis to Noah´s flood. As we visit Domaša on regular basis, we managed to get together a few photos from several years. We try to show not only the beauty, but also the ugly side of Domaša in this video: Paddleboarding na Domaši. If you are from Eastern Slovakia and you are fed up of Domaša, maybe Zemplínska Šírava, if you manage to get there, will hold your interest.
